hmmm :( still very sick...i am actually getting worse....energy level is very low....i have been sleeping the whole day.....trying to gain as much energy as i can b4 class starts on monday... but i just received an email from our prof saying that he will try to teach more because of the holiday coming up... -___-' gosh...don't think i can survive it b'coz it's my LEAST favourite class --> Sociology....
this is so depressing.....It's only the 2nd week of class but I can see that ALMOST all my classmates are having a very "dead face"...
ahhhhhhhh but this is enough!!! ok...starting from tomorrow....I CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS ANYMORE!!!!
Even though school life is tough i can't let this depressing mood to stand in my way!
Even though I am sick but i still need to bring my bright attitude towards class!!
Even though living alone in this tiny place with an invisible toliet-mate....but i guess there is nth much to complain hahaha coz i can enjoy the washroom for now...kekeke... ^^
so things aren't so bad afterall....

Difference between "Classmate" and "Friend"
Running into the 2nd week of class....seems like there is a split in our group already.......i guess it's a natural thing to happen...but it's too fast.....there are a certain ppl who I consider as "friend", some of them I will only consider as "classmate" and a few of them I don't even know how to classify them.....I will jsut call them "others"
Classmate = ppl who met in class and will only contact him/her when it's necessary such as in the occassion when project due or when presentation is coming up....
Friend = ppl who met in class but will constantly keep contact, have lunch, have dinner, talk about things.....well just do many other things other than academic stuff......
Others = they exist in class...other than knowing their names i don't really know much about them...

hk guys = hopeless??
Is it really that hard to find a "decent" guy ?? or should I ask....Are there no normal guy existing in this world??I am not even talking about a boyfriend type of guy...i m just talking about a guy in general....man i m so disappointed.....
well on the "earthquake night" i went to have noodle w/ my classmates (3 guys) after class somewhere @ 西環..... well as most of you should know I have very limited sense of direction and I have been repeatedly saying that "I am afraid i don't know how to get home" ... they kept telling me that they will show me how to get home....anyway long story short....after we finished one guy took off b'coz he got a call and was in a hurry to go...so just left me w/ 2 other guys....so one of them just pointed and said I can wait for red van from there and it will bring me back to HKU....and they took off....apparently...all the vans are full......and i waited for i think 20 mins...and i gave up....so i just wandered around w/ my heavy textbooks....try to look for alternative ways to get home....end up i just walked to different bus stop and see if there is anything that will pass by HKU...and of course I did find sth ....
this is just so disappointing....i mean yea sure i can just get a taxi and get home....but then i think at least someone should show me or see me get on a "vehicle" b4 leaving gwa?? am i expecting too much here?? >.<

I have a new "Family"
Even though I have only been w/ my classmates for a week of time....but it seems like we are a one big family already.....though i didn't really get to know EVERYONE very well but in general I can feel that we should be able to work things out for the coming 2 years.....
Honestly i feel very happy yet painful when i see them....seeing them in class just reminds me of due dates and presentation group member....but w/out them i feel alone...life @ Grad House is real quiet....I heard sounds of ppl opening and closing doors but i don't see them existing....and btw yes i still have an invisible "washroom-mate".....so i really like to see my "family members" in class!! and finally our mainland classmate has arrived....and we went out to lunch today Yum Cha together as lunch....we treat her for lunch as to welcome her to our class and to this new environment......
btw...omg i really like this agnes b. lock & key combination....my classmate is kind enough to let me borrow it a few days....totally love it!! haha

My life in HK @ this point:
1. Chaotic
ahhhhhhhh finally....finished 1 week of class....i don't even know where to start....super confused and lost after a week....things have only become more chaotic....need time to cope...Some classes are quite confusing....i guess that's b'coz i don't have background (painful~~) My energy level is super low rite now........i need a boost.......red bull maybe?? hehe....
2. Super Broke
wah....never been so crazy in my life to get 3 textbooks for 1 course.......so broke for this month... zero entertainment..... -_-'
3. Family vs War
really need to fight this war (coursework) w/ my "family" members (classmates)..... *_*

school has only started for a week....and i have only been to all my classes for ONCE......but already tons of due dates and presentation waiting for me.....honestly i have never been so busy for school before....this is really challenging my limit here....

then again i should put it this way....if the new classmate (who apparently just arrived our class today) can survive ... i m sure i can survive as well....man we are all so lost today after class....coz all of us have experienced the craziness of this program already....also.....i was thinking of getting a PT job....but...how to manage lei?? i really wonder how.......but i need $$ too....gosh...this is just the beginning of term......by november i guess ppl can start looking for me @ Castle Peak Hospital....

Orientation Week
For the first week of September..i basically joined all those orientation......
MSW Orientation
This is my own program orientation...my god....this orientation is the worst ever...it's not really about meeting ppl...it's more like the professor threatening you on how hard the program will be... how much workload...how much presentations....how much stress and pressure.... i hate it already hahaha....
Graduate House Welcoming Party
I finally get to know ppl in my hall....honestly i haven't seen anyone from my floor at all....it seems like they don't exist...and i still haven't met my "washroom mate" FYI for this hall 2 rooms share 1 bathroom...so i m quite curious about who's from my floor....the party was okay.... 90% of the population here is from mainland...in general they are very nice...but some of them can't really understand english and my mandarin sucks haha....so....hahah....know a few ppl from differen floor...some from taiwan...some from mainland...some from US...and some from Canada - Vancouver....
International Student Orientation

The theme for this year is One World....HKU if particular crazy about getting oversea student this year....i mean there are ppl from somehwere in the world that u don't know exactly where it's located....and that's something my cousin has been complaining about....coz she thinks this year most of the admission were given away to oversea student and that's y local students aren't getting a lot of chances to get in....and i do feel that oversea student has an advantage too....like me I applied as oversea student but all i did was a phone inteview and i got my admission...^^

1st day alone....
I officially moved in my hall, Graduate House, on Sept 1, 2006 2pm sharp!!
There I met a few ppl @ the lobby....1 from united states....1 from mainland....1 from vancouver....
I first thought "ohh...it's not bad....we have ppl from all over the world staying in the hall...." but i was totally wrong when it's time for us to check in....the staff started speaking mandarin to me and he asked me in mandarin "do you have authorization card with you?" and for a sec i was so confusing.....but he still continued with mandarin "your authorization card?? any proof of who u are??" at that moment i speak cantonese to him "does HKID count??" i guess he realizes that I was kinda mad with the fact that he's speaking mandarin to me he finally apologize and said "oh i m sorry i thought u are from mainland b'coz most of the ppl here are from mainland"..... -_-'
but i wouldn't complain too much about it coz....even though i m @ level 2 but i still have the harbour view!! I was actually quite happy about it....but i m sure the veiw is much better @ upper level...... but it sure feel strange to see so many buildings in front of me @ night.... i miss home.....

My week #2 in HK is basically getting my things settled down a bit....like getting my bank account ready.....getting my cell phone ready.....and stuff like that.... having Larry leaving town soon i feel that i m all alone again..i m super homesick....sigh....
There were still many things for me to deal with...especially with school issues...my second visit to HKU was accompany by KK......it happened he is on holiday from work....so i didn't have to get there alone by myself !! hehe...and LeeHom Concert is the major event for the 2nd week in hk hahaha...been waiting for it SINCE forever hahaha and this is also my very first time sitting @ the very last row of the stadium to watch a show!! thanx KK hahaha....but then even though sitting on top of the 'mountain' we are still very high that night haha...i lost my voice for a few days afterwards.....scream too much LOL

This is the 'mountain view" of the show haha....concert was held @ HK Coliseum located @ Hung Hom on Aug 25, 2006 8:15pm....LeeHom is the BEST!!!
For the rest of the week was just getting ready to move into my "home" on Sept 1st......so did some shopping and more relatives yum cha events & dinner....... -_-' not very enjoyable....

Week # 1 before school.....
Time: August 17, 2006 - August 24, 2006
Location: Multiple Locations in Kowloon & HK Island....
Event #1:
After I got picked up by my aunt from the airport....went straight to her home to settle down... by settling down I mean I just went to her home and just took a shower...before I knew it I am already sitting in a restaurant having brunch with my grandma....my 3rd aunt and my 5th aunt with 2 of my cousins for Yum Cha.....and before i realized it my aunt had called all my other aunts for dinner @ a restaurant where they get to MJ/Karaoke/Eat all in one....and guessed what I even have to played MJ w/ my cousins....i kept losing though...hahah...man...haven't slept for over 48 hrs I finally had a good 8 hr sleep that night after dinner......but I am glad that I had seen almost EVERYONE on my mom's side...just a couple cousins missing...well i m sure we have our time to meet....
Event #2:
Aug. 18, 2006....without wasting another day, I have called up my dad's side relatives....it's a very common culture for hknese to Yum Cha....so my next event was also Yum Cha... went to see my grandma and aunt + uncles of my dad's side....and of course dinner with them as well....
Basically, Event #1 + #2 = lots of eating, lots of "why" questions and suddenly I am the centre of attention....honestly I still can't adjust myself to have a bunch of relatives around me...being the only family @ Toronto....everything is quiet over there......I understand that they all miss me and wanna take care of me....but it's very hard for me to keep up w/ all the meetings....coz everyone wants me to squeeze time for them.... @_@
Event #3:
Aug 19, 2006....seeing ALL MY RELATIVES for the last couple days was just too much for me...and i need to get away from them....I met up w/ my ex-colleague @ Toronto for lunch...it happened that she came back here to visit her mom and I was so happy that I was able to meet up w/ her before she left....had a very light lunch ceasar salad @ a italian restaurant called Amaroni's Little Italy @ Festive Walk located @ Kowloon Tong...
After lunch I met up with KK, but unfortunately my jetlag finally hit me and I wasn't really in the mood to talk or do anything....we had coffee @ Pacific Coffee which is also located @ Festive Walk but it didn't help....afterwards we went over to TST where there were multiple malls connected and it was crowded....there I saw Larry shopping w/ his family which he then join us for dinner later!! (details pls visit http://verylarry.blogspot.com)
[Aside] - Before we met up with Larry, KK got a call from his friend who apparently also shopping @ TST with gf...we then met up somewhere in the mall and my god....this gf...the first thing she asked KK was "where is your gf??" i mean is there no friendship between a guy and a girl??? this is sth that i can't stand hknese especially girls...they are so narrow minded and basically they can be described as "narrow person" coz all of them are so skinny and "narrow" anyways....later i figures out that they must have seen me and KK shopping and following us and called KK to see if he will lie...if so...then they will just pop up and make a big deal out of it... gosh.. i was so pissed that I had to call Trace to blast about it...... >.<
Event #4

August 21, 2006, finally getting ride of my jetlag...it's time to come down to the "main" event haha...which is visitng HKU and to get my registration ready.....I was so glad that Larry was able to spare the time to go with me....actually we didn't do much @ school....coz there isn't much i can do until a later date...so...all i did was handing in some papers....visit my future "home", Graduate House, which is on top of the mountain.....nice environment....non-polluted air...but too much walking.... (more details @ larry's blog.... ^^)
Event #5

August 23, 2006, more Yum Cha with relatives for 21st & 22nd.....end up i couldnt' stand it anymore and I called up Larry....see what's he doing....and it happens he's also Yum Cha-ing w/ relatives and wanna get away from it as well....so we met up AGAIN @ TST and end up shopping various places throughout TST with Larry's mom and Rita (Larry's younger sis.), and auntie was sooooooooooo nice that she invites me to join them for dinner....and @ dinner we met up with Bowie (Larry's elder sister) who I haven't seen for a long long time.... Dinner was delicious we had it @ a Shanghai Restaurant (as shown in pic), it's crazy there lining up for tables haha and i got so mo liu that i start taking snap w/ larry and rita!! haha

Welcome "Home"
Time: August 17, 2006 6:45am (HK time)
Location: Hong Kong International Airport

After 17+ hrs of flight, finally I am here....Hong Kong....my "home" for at least the next 2 years...I am familiar with the language and culture here but I still feel that I m very detached... I guess because for the last few times, I came back here for visiting/travelling purposes...at that time i don't really give a damn of what will happen or who to meet....but now....there are so many things I have to deal with....i miss the no string attached feeling....

It didn't take me too long to get my luggage and pass the custom because there was this very nice gentleman helped me with my heavy "overweight" luggage and I got my SmartID card last time when i came back to HK so i don't even have to line up to pass through the custom....so I was earlier than i expected.....alone sitting @ the lobby waiting for someone to pick me up......can't go anywhere...no washroom....no food....nobody.......

My flight wasn't quite as pleasent as I thought it would be.....there was a 2 year old baby next to me and there were quite a few other babies on board as well....so there were constant baby crying and parents screaming sounds.....but food was good though.....Cathay is actually having a project with famous restaurants what i had for my dinner was Yung Kee Chickent Rice with delicious salmon salad and my own cocktail for the plane - Apple White Win on Rock! ^^

Snacks sucks but since they asked me to fill out a customer survey/questionnaire for them i figure i should have some service from the flight attendant...hehe...my 2nd snack during my flight is cup noodle and coke with ice.....i was only able to sleep maybe 10 - 20 mins every few hours....but i manged to get over this boring flight with a few more Apple White Wine and had my breakfast before landing HK...I had mushroom pork congee with fruit salad, yogurt and banana cake...my god the cake was sooooooo moist and they served it warm....delicious....and well even though it's breakfast i still think it's necessary to have some more alcohol to cure my headache..... -_-'

Ohhh...and i managed to finish the questionnaire they'd given me...and it feels so strange that my occupation is once again "student"!

Leaving Home......
Time: August 16, 2006 12:50am
Location: Pearson Internation Airport Gate C27
Flight: CX 829

About 2 months ago, I have decided to accept the offer from HKU for the program of Master of Social Work....I am sure for most people it is a BIG BIG deal to make such decision to fly thousands miles away from home and to live in a country on the other side of the world....it didn't really hit me until the day I have to leave Canada.....I am a person who need to have someone beside me....dont' know if I will be okay by myself....sitting @ Gate C27...I started to miss my family, friends and my home.....
